2020 IATA "Initial" Acceptance Training for Operators and Ground Handling Agents

Who should complete this course?

This course is for you if you are involved in accepting dangerous goods for or on behalf of a ground handling agent or operator/airline in Australia.

What do you require?

You will need the latest version of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations. Please contact us if you would like us to set you up with the loan of an online version. These are available for you to use for a maximum of 3 weeks.

What’s in this course?

After completing this training, you will have an understanding of the legal requirements and operational restrictions that apply to shipments of dangerous goods intended for air transport. You will gain the knowledge to be able to identify, handle and process consignments according to national and international regulations.

Skills learnt will include classification, identification, packing, marking, labelling and documentation of dangerous goods consignments. As personnel of ground handling agents and operators you will also learn responsibilities involving the acceptance and transportation of dangerous goods consignments.

The course content is based on the current edition of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations. Your training will enable you to interpret the contents of this publication and apply its principles to safely prepare dangerous goods for air transport.

How is the course delivered?

This course is intended to be fully self-paced, enabling you to complete it at your own pace and in your own time. However, full interaction is available with our fully-qualified instructor. Details will be given to you after your registration process has been completed.

Most modules include sound, so a set of headphones or speakers is essential. If you intend to interact with our trainer, you may be required to login to a live session. In this situation, a microphone is also required.

The training should take around 20 to 24 hours to complete.

If, after attempting this course, you believe that you will benefit more from live training, you will be able to make a booking on to one of our scheduled face-to-face classroom courses without having to pay for another course.

Our price includes GST.

What you will receive at the end of your training

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to download an accreditation approved by CASA and IATA. Your certificate will qualify you to prepare and accept dangerous goods consignments intended to be transported by air transport. Your qualification will remain current for 2 years. Before the expiry of this time, you will be required to complete refresher training. This can be done by way of another self-paced online course that should take around 6 to 8 hours to complete.
