2020 Dangerous Goods Awareness Training for Groups B, C and D Personnel

Who should complete this course?

This course is for you if you need to learn and understand the basics about the safe handling and transporting of dangerous goods by air transport. This course is a requirements under Australian law for freight forwarders, ground handlers and airline staff involved in the acceptance and/or handling of air freight. It will not enable you to accept freight that is regarded as dangerous goods.

What’s in this course?  

After completing this training, you will have an understanding of the legal requirements and operational restrictions that apply to shipments of dangerous goods intended for air transport. You will gain the knowledge to be able to recognise consignments according to national and international regulations.

Skills learnt will include:

  • International authorities and Australian legislation
  • Classification
  • Identification, including the dangerous goods list
  • Limitations, including passengers' and crews' baggage
  • Marks and labels
  • Operator's responsibilites
  • Emergency procedures

The course content is based on the current edition of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations.

How is the course delivered?

This course is intended to be fully self-paced, enabling you to complete it at your own pace and in your own time. However, full interaction is available with our fully-qualified instructor. Details will be given to you after your registration process has been completed.

Most modules include sound, so a set of headphones or speakers is essential. If you intend to interact with our trainer, you may be required to login to a live session. In this situation, a microphone is also required.

The training should take around 4 to 6 hours to complete.

What you will receive at the end of your training

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to download an accreditation approved by CASA and IATA. Your certificate will qualify you to handle air freight. Your qualification will remain current for 2 years. Before the expiry of this time, you will be required to complete refresher training. This can be done by way of another self-paced online course that should take around 3 to 4 hours to complete.
